Funeral Service Types
At Latrobe Valley Funeral Services we offer a range of funeral service options to accomodate your needs.
Where a person is involved in a Church community, they will often choose to have the funeral service held in their church. Our funeral homes in Moe, Morwell and Traralgon can provide a truly memorable funeral service and we can offer catering and refreshments at the conclusion of the service. Funeral services held at our chapels can be conducted by a minister or member of the clergy. Alternatively, you may choose to have the service at another suitable location, such as the family home, community hall or alternate venue that’s significant to the deceased.
An important consideration when selecting the venue for the funeral service is the number of mourners to be expected in attendance. Funeral services can be conducted by a member of the clergy or a civil celebrant or even a friend or member of the family. The most common types of funeral services are:
A dual service consists of a service located either in a church, one of our chapels, or another suitable location, which is then followed by the procession to the final resting place at the cemetery or crematorium where a committal service is held.
A single service consists of a service located either in a church, one of our chapels, graveside, the crematorium chapel or another suitable location. The single service incorporates the main funeral service and committal service and there is no procession to the cemetery or crematorium.
A memorial service consists of a service located either in a church, one of our chapels, or another suitable location after a burial or cremation has occurred on occasions where a private funeral service is held or where the deceased’s body is not able to be present.
