July 17, 2025The Gippsland Acoustic Music Club is saddened to hear of the tragic loss of club member Alex Wilson. He wore many hats in the local music scene and was a great supporter of GAMC. We saw him often in the audience, often on stage in a number of different bands, and often encouraging young students to perform too. Alex, you will be missed! We wish to extend our condolences to Vic, Lachlan, Heath and Angus at this very sad time.
July 17, 2025We are saddened to hear of the passing of Mr Wilson. Mr Wilson was our Lachy’s (Koumis) music teacher at Grey St. Not only did he encourage Lachy to pick up and learn the guitar, he inspired Lachy to embark on his own musical journey through life – at secondary school, and now in his aspirations and studies to become a music teacher too..
Our hearts go out to the Wilson family, music and school communities.

July 18, 2025To the Wilson family, Vic, Lachlan Health and Angus. Can’t believe Alex is gone. Loved watching him perform in many music groups but so loved the Steaming Monzas. What entertainment he brought to people’s lives. Super talented and I had the pleasure of watching him teach at grey st. Seriously funny, very dry sense of humour. Loved his family and was passionate about you guys and of course music. Such a loss to everything he was involved in and his legacy will live on with those that still play music through his lessons to them.

Now in peace. Xxxxx Duffy Bugg. XxxxxxxxGone to play Jazz with the greats in the sky!
July 18, 2025
I have such fond memories of playing alongside Alex. My best one is the James Morrison Concert with the Traralgon City Band. Alex, Evan and myself did that Trombone Trio and we spent weeks together hanging out and playing it until it was so tight that even James couldn’t keep up with us.
RIP Alex.I was privileged to work with Alex at Grey St, he taught my daughter Maddy music, he called her ‘Maddog’ which she loved and which summed up Alex as a teacher! He was funny, engaging and the students loved him!

I always felt proud of the numerous times our school band and the xylophone groups performed so admirably at our school assemblies, Open days, Eisteddfods, Spring Soiree evenings and at many other community and special events.
Alex guided and directed the students skilfully to showcase their wonderful musical talents and the students loved performing. Bravo!
