The impact of her work combined with Eric’s calmness and patience behind the camera made a difference to Disability Employment in Gippsland. 18. A tribute to my beautiful Aunty Jo. You played many roles throughout my life.

The babysitter when I was young. (I know you liked pretending I was yours)

The cool and fun aunty when I was a teenager (well that never changed to be honest)

The inspirational aunty when I was a young adult.

The Mum 2.0 aunty when I lost mum… you have no idea how much this meant the world to me.
I could call you day or night and you were there for me always, to talk, to listen, to laugh, play pool games or watch MAFS together – for this I am eternally grateful as I couldn’t have gotten through this time without you.

Oma Jo when Mase was born.

And over the years you have become more than an aunty, more than an adopted mum, you were a true friend to me and I am going to miss you so terribly much.

I take solace in the fact that you and mum are together again and Oma and Opa have another girl home.

The light in my world has gotten a little more dimmer but the stars in the sky will shine even brighter. Love you Aunty Jo xxx

  20. Eric, my thoughts are with you, Family and friends the world over for the passing of Johanna. Far too young and far too soon…..Please take some comfort from the love, happiness and memories that you shared and some solace from the fact of an end to Johanna’s recent suffering and pain.
As Elizabeth Frye so eloquently wrote:

‘Please do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond that glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn rain.
When you awaken in the morning’s hush
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
    Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die!

Be well my great Mate and take strength from Johanna’s spirit, love and presence!
    Cheers, Alex

We used to laugh a lot, oh don’t you?
