Dear Paddy Such a character who was well respected and admired by all. A part of the TAFE teaching service and contributor to many a good time with music and song. Paddy joined the Moe Art Society for a time after he had recovered enough from his stroke, His contribution was admirable and we all enjoyed his company. Deepest sympathy from myself and my family. One of the biggest influences in my musical career when I finished high school, then many years later a colleugue and mentor once again. An inspiration to so many lives in Gippsland and especially Latrobe Valley. Vale to a great man.

Paddy I remember your infectious grin, your cheeky ways (always getting the desired reaction from Netty), and your child-like joy with the world. I will never forget the scenic tour you took Jacinta and I on in that old Bedford. Up over Old Coach Rd at snail pace, with your tour-guide ‘microphone’ giving us a running commentary of somewhere we knew so well. That will always stay with me. I will also remember your passion for so many things, even if they were of no interest to you. It was such a joy to be able to introduce you to my son and for you two to have some time chatting together, and to have you remember me so well. I know you and Annette will be at rest now that you are together again. XX

I am so saddened by this news. Paddy taught me (on rotation) clarinet, the Irish tin whistles and how to sing. I had many a laugh with Paddy, he emceed at both my brother’s 18th and my 30th birthday parties, even getting the most conservative adults up on the dancefloor, dressed up or having a dance. He is a true LV icon, music man and will be sadly missed. Reunited with Annette xo

Although we cannot be with you physically at the funeral we will be with you through our prayers and attend via live stream.

I met Paddy and the O’Dowd family 64 years ago. So many precious memories. No matter whenever I met Paddy he always had a smile on his face and a story to tell.
