  4. One of the biggest influences in my musical career when I finished high school, then many years later a colleugue and mentor once again. An inspiration to so many lives in Gippsland and especially Latrobe Valley. Vale to a great man.

  6. Paddy I remember your infectious grin, your cheeky ways (always getting the desired reaction from Netty), and your child-like joy with the world. I will never forget the scenic tour you took Jacinta and I on in that old Bedford. Up over Old Coach Rd at snail pace, with your tour-guide ‘microphone’ giving us a running commentary of somewhere we knew so well. That will always stay with me. I will also remember your passion for so many things, even if they were of no interest to you. It was such a joy to be able to introduce you to my son and for you two to have some time chatting together, and to have you remember me so well. I know you and Annette will be at rest now that you are together again. XX

  7. I am so saddened by this news. Paddy taught me (on rotation) clarinet, the Irish tin whistles and how to sing. I had many a laugh with Paddy, he emceed at both my brother’s 18th and my 30th birthday parties, even getting the most conservative adults up on the dancefloor, dressed up or having a dance. He is a true LV icon, music man and will be sadly missed. Reunited with Annette xo

  29. To the O’Dowd clan: all of Paddy and Annette’s children and grandchildren and to Paddy’s brothers and sisters. Sincere condolences on the loss of Paddy, the amazing music man of Newborough and the Valley. What a gift and blessing he has been to our parishes in Newborough and Moe and to the wider music scene here and beyond the Latrobe Valley. I have treasured memories of playing and singing with Paddy on various parish occasions over many years. The music of the O’Dowd Family Band was a wonderful gift to those lucky enough to hear them. Paddy, your resilience, courage and determination, in the aftermath of your stroke some years ago, was an inspiration to us all. As you are reunited with your beloved Annette, may the music live on in our hearts and souls. Rest in peace.

  53. Thinking of my cousins Shauleen, Justin, Jacinta, Kathleen and Christopher and their families today saying goodbye to their Dad and our beautiful Uncle Paddy. I’ll always remember Uncle Paddy coming to see me and taking me to maccas to share some wise words when I was having a tough time in VCE, the stories he would share and the times he took Shannon and I fishing in Inverloch and especially how I proud I was when he would perform at school or in town and I could say “that’s my uncle” hoping he wouldn’t spot me in the crowd and make me do any Irish dancing. Uncle Paddy you were always willing to share your positivity, kindness, thirst for knowledge and musical talent with our world and have left a huge legacy in our family but also the Latrobe Valley Community. Rest in Peace. Reunited with Aunty Annette You will not be forgotten. Xxx
