Dad, we are heart broken you are no longer here with us. You have left a big hole in all of our hearts and our family. You will never be forgotten and always talk about. We will miss you shaking your head, and saying “I can’t hear you” then saying “you don’t have to yell” when we repeat what we’ve said, just a little bit louder. Robert, thanks for the last 54 together, 51 & 1/2 years of “wonderful “ marriage. We had our good and bad times but we stuck together. We had 3 wonderful kids, their partners and then our 5 grandkids, which brought us so much joy. I will miss your humorous attitude and the banter we shared. Thank you for being a great handyman and making our house our home. We have made lots of cherished memories.

Dad, we are heartbroken that you are gone. You were always our rock—supporting, guiding, and helping us in every way you could. I will miss being your TA, standing by your side while you fixed things and taught me how to use your drills. You had a way of making even the smallest tasks feel special. Thank you for always drawing all over my walls when hanging things up. Thanks for always getting up early to watch Gemma and Thomas play sport, we could see how proud you were of them.

Dad you always said, “If it’s on bloody Facebook, it must be true!” Well Dad, it’s on Facebook and I wish it wasn’t true.

A great mate and a beautiful friend Wehave had nearly a life time of friendship ALL the great grand final days we shared together and the Melbourne CUP days, we had lot’s of laughs and taking the piss out of each other. Words can’t describe what we are feeling. You were my best mate, a great father In-law and a great Pa. I will deeply miss our fishing trips our trips to Dargo and generally having a beer and a chat. The kids loved you coming to watch them play sport and going away with them.

Robert you were my big brother you left us suddenly we are all trying to process our feeling of loss
I have vivid memories of your ferrets and catching rabbits for our pocket money and sadness when we lost your favorite one Lucy
Mum and dad would only let me go to the Karma dances if you chaperoned me – I was 16
You would dump me at the Karma with all the other girls whilst the boys went to the pub and came back when it closed after 10pm – we were supposed to be excited that you all returned to finally dance with us
You married Denise and had 3 great kids
You loved your family and i watched you being so patient with the grand children
I read your brag book with all their sporting achievements
I did not see you often but we were happy to see each other and i know you loved me in your own way
I have a lot of good memories you have left a sadness in our lives

I feel so lucky to have had a wonderful Uncle like you. I loved visiting Morwell, to know what it feels like to be a part of a big family. I will always cherise all those big family events. Seeing you there, always with a big smile on your face and a big welcoming hug. Always joking and enjoying yourself.

I have loved that you have been able to visit us here in Perth and get to know my own little family, my husband and my two young kids.

We are so sorry to hear of Smacka’s passing Denise, our deepest condolences to you and the family. We are so sorry we can’t be there for you at the funeral as we are currently in the UK. Smacka was a man I greatly respected, he kept me in line in my younger years at work and was an inspiration to all of us young sparkies who he supervised in the golden era at Loy Yang A. I will always remember him fondly, may he rest in peace 😔
