May 23, 2018Dear Elizabeth and family, sending you our love. We used to admire how fit Richard was riding past our house and then going for his morning walks. We know he had quite a bit to do with saving of Hubert Osborne Park and we are deeply thankful. Diane and Paul Burns

May 24, 2018A wonderful man that was friendly and helpful, always had a smile and loved his cycling. Rest in peace, Richard.
May 24, 2018My heartfelt condolences to the entire Jeffery family. On Monday, this town lost an icon. Richard Jefferey known to many as the “the old bloke” who was always running & cycling, even in the midst of winter but to myself & my former work colleagues he was the man we “feared” if caught talking or not providing excellent customer service to the highest standards. The thought of being summoned to the “snake pit ( his office that overlooked the store) was a deterrent for us all. But these are great memories that we laugh about & cherish the memories of a man that stood for ensuring his store delivered the very best & getting the very best from his staff. He taught & showed us the way in great work ethics & deliverance. He set me up for life with the skills needed to provide & undertake those needed in the retail world. The Jefferey’s store closed in April 1989 which was a huge loss to the town as will be the loss of Richard…Mr Jefferey in 2018. A truly well respected gentleman who will be dearly missed by all. Thanks for the opportunity to have worked & learnt from you. Martha van Vondel/Truin

May 29, 2018I am shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of Swaggy’s running mate for so many years. I have many happy memories of Sunday runs at Kornalla and elsewhere. Richard optimised the comradeship of the Traralgon Harriers and was there from the club’s inception.

I have known Richard since I was 13 years old and always have great memories of this power house of an athlete and person to admire..always..He was a role model in athletics and the local community and his achievements were always of the highest standard , I could never catch him… Run On Richard !!Only just learned of the sad passing of Richard Jeffrey. He was my inspiration when I first came to Australia, a very modest man who certainly made the most of his athletic abilities in the 60’s and seventies.
