  6. My late husband Barry & I first met this wonderful gentleman Maurie and his beautiful wife Jean in Toogoom (QLD) about 10 years ago……the highlight of the week was Saturday afternoon at the drinking bench on the beach
    Maurie always in the lead
Maurie loved a drink or 3
Maurie was always first to finish a bottle & proceed to help others if required.
RIP dear Maurie….we will miss the cheeky grin & the continual laugh….Oh….& something else….your bloody business card!
Sincere condolences to all family members.
Make sure you catch up with Baz for a beverage or two….

  8. Each year when we saw Maurie in Toogoom we knew winter wasn’t far away.
That also meant enjoying his (and Jeans when she came too) company…..and Maurice’s story telling most Saturday afternoons while enjoying drinks & nibbles down at the bench watching the beautiful sunsets, stars & moon rises over the water. We also shared with Maurie a few fishing/boating adventures on board Libby where most times Maurie always. caught something before anyone else did.
Maurie was a real character & a true gentleman and we are so sad to hear of his passing.
    Rest In Peace Maurie

Ben (Grandsons) wife Charlotte in UK. I’m so sorry
    What a wonderfully kind man.
I don’t have many memories of him, which is my loss, but every one is of him smiling.
I’m so glad I met him even those few times.
Me. Some of the residents of the nursing home call him smiley 😃 He sooo wanted to be at your wedding, but no doctor would have cleared him for flying to the UK
Charlotte. Everyone there would have left with his business card!
Me. Thanks Charlotte. I needed that chuckle……
