HIGGINS, Michael John
Passed away peacefully at Latrobe Regional Health Traralgon on August 24th 2026
Aged 73 years.
Funeral NoticeDear Mick, you were once a valued and good friend but time and distance meant we grew apart. You were a kind and generous soul, forthright, dedicated to fairness and empathy and also a talented educator much loved and respected by his former pupils.
I am so sad that an illness has cut your life short but I am thankful that you did not suffer in the end and passed peacefully. I have faith that you are now in the embrace of your mother and father in the next world accompanied by all the dogs you cared for and love so tenderly over the years. You were always a good dog dad.
My heart goes out to your nieces, your brother Peter and your sister Julianne and her husband. Losing a “little brother” is not an easy thing to deal with.
Happy trails, Mick. May you find happiness and peace in the next life. Vale, Mick Higgins…
Your old mate Tom
August 28, 2026Thankful to have met and help look after Michael at LRH. I will remember him because he was funny and good with names. I am sure he would have been a great teacher. RIP.
August 29, 2026Mick,
your fellow weekend workmates at The Royal Oak during the 80’s, will be saddened to hear of your passing. Always fun times back then.As for myself, 40 plus years of footy tipping contests, along with all those attendances at footy & cricket games alongside a varied cast of friends (discontinued once you left for a life of ‘peace in the bush’ out east), leaves a lasting imprint every time I head to the ‘G’.
Rest In Peace, fella.
PT (tipster ‘danny’ & fellow bomber supporter).
