RIP big fella. The boys from Whessoe and Ch Karnchang at the Xayaburi project in Laos are all saddened with the news. Never a dull moment in your company. Bangkok may have lost one of it’s legends, but you’ve left many memories wherever you’ve been posted.

He was my senior and a mentor at NT2 project and a good friend of my late father’s. Without John I would not be where I am today. Always found him to.be a calm but cautious leader, I dont remember any of the staff members not liking Mr Heron. Condolences to the family John will always be remembered with a smile

I met and worked with John in 1993 in Bangkok. I owe a great deal of gratitude to John as he helped me to understand how to work and live in Asia. More importantly John introduced me through his girlfriend, Nid, from Buriram, to her cousin Wanphen in 1994. Wanphen and I have been married for almost 25 years. We still visit Buriram on a regular basis and always say hello to Nid and John’ s son Benny. John and I were very close while I lived in Thailand for 5 years. We had a hell of a lot of fun running around the city. He was a real character and I will miss him. John and Wanphen Boyd Canada.
