I knew Joe when he was at the Test Laboratory (Glass House) at Yallourn many years ago when he was working towards his electrical engineering degree.
He always had time to chat and talk about his goals and impressed me immensely with his drive to succeed and how proud he was when he achieved that degree.
Though I lost touch, as I did with most of the technicians and engineering staff, after the breakup of the SECV, I would enquire, where is Joe Gaffa? The reply: he is doing good things.
I extend my condolences to his family.
