McGAURAN, Edmund

Ed, (Uncle Ed) was an essential part of our family gathering at Christmas, always greeting Gilda with a provocative ‘hello Curly!” (not a curl in sight) and a jovial ‘Gooday!’ to the rest of us. His Xmas cards were always delivered by hand to show that he thought of us. We will miss him. RIP Ed

A lovely uncle and great uncle. Will be very missed. Never missed a birthday or Christmas. Always up for a chat and always thinking of us.

Visited with Cousin Ed six years ago when we were back in Australia. Ed very graciously took us on a mini tour of Bairnsdale, and we saw all the places our families used to visit so many years ago …. so glad that we had the opportunity to visit with him then.

Edmund was a true gentleman — always sweet, polite, and sincerely grateful. He found joy in people and in simple moments, never wanting for much and only accepting help when he truly felt it was needed. It was an absolute pleasure and privilege to support him with his Home Care Package, and to know him during that time. He will be remembered for his gentle nature, quiet strength, and the warmth he brought to those around him.

Always friendly, postive and caring and interested in what you were doing. A great bloke and cousin sadly missed.

There will always be a spot at the Xmas table fo you. And a half a pavlova.

I will miss the Edmund from Bairnsdale calls. Ed always was positive and had an interest in myself and my family. He always asks after my parents, something is rare these days. He will be missed.

Sorry to hear of Ed’s passing. He was a quiet pleasant bloke who always sat with us at the bowls club to make us feel welcomed as newly arrived residents of Bairnsdale. He made the point of always saying hello. From John and James

I’m so very sorry for your loss Rob, Alex and the family. Ed’s love of a bite to eat keeps coming up in conversation. My last conversation with him involved a long story about a new favourite cafe opposite his accommodation and a plea for me to pass on a cash request to the Minister of Finance (the Hon. Robert McGauran) because he was not answering Ed’s calls….AGAIN! I always enjoyed my conversations with Ed and will miss them. A genuinely lovely bloke.

Edmund an absolute gentleman and a kind hearted and honest person He was was always there for you and took interest in your well being. A very caring and helpful person I have lost a true friend and he will always be around in spirit with his family and friends So sad and sorry to see you go
