  8. Most saddening news received today: that my Uncle Max Drane passed away yesterday. A very fine Uncle and a good cheerful friend of my late parents as well. My very earliest memory of him was on a boat fishing trip I think at Shallow Inlet; I was only about five years old but I remember his capable manner, kindness, patience and sense of interest and goodwill – which was my abiding impression of him through all this time… Thoughts to the family and Drane cousins especially.

  9. Dear Auntie Jeanne and family. We will miss Uncle Max and his cheery smile and warm loving personality. Always a kind and encouraging word to give and a big hug. Always positive and always interested in everything I had to say. I will miss our farm chats about the cows and the land and all his good tips and advice about how to manage the cattle. God bless you Uncle Max. XX

  13. Farewell dear Uncle Max. It is said that what we remember most about a person is how they made us feel, and not so much what they accomplished or anything else. Uncle Max’s warmth and sincerity were so central to who he was. These qualities, together with his genuine interest in how your life was going, followed up by a thoughtful and sometimes humorous word of encouragement, all added up to creating the feeling that you were much the better for knowing him. Deepest sympathy to dear Auntie Jeanne and all of the family. Rest in peace with God, dear Uncle Max xx

  22. Dear Jeanne, Gina, Robbie and Jackie
Max was the proud father of a wonderful family. I had the good fortune to work with Jeanne for several years and was honoured to teach their three children at Grey Street. The values that Max and Jeanne instilled in Gina, Robbie and Jackie were a reflection of their loving parenting. Max has lived a full and productive life.

  23. Pa,
Nearly 90, beautiful, long years on this earth. I am so honoured and grateful to have known, and be loved by you for 25 of those years. You built me my first netball hoop and watched as I fell off my bike many times. I loved your endless tours of the veggie patch and taking turns on your tractor.
Thank you for all the gorgeous memories. I will miss our little chats and the bacon and eggs on the bbq that you always knew how to perfect.
Love you Pa. Love Brookey 🤍

    Brooke Davies July 6, 2022
  24. Dearest Pa.
Although I’ll forever miss you, the cricket in the backyard, your constant loving, humorous, positive personality and of course the old caravan trips to Queensland I’ll always be grateful for and cherish the memories and moments we did have together. You were the best Pa I could ever ask for and I’ll continue to love you forevermore.

  25. Clever, Funny, Humble, Tough and Tender, Stoic and Strong; A mate, always ready to help a friend when he could. Make anything he turned his hand to. Helping me with school projects. Nanny’s right hand man. Helping her with cryptic cross words. Thinking outside the square. Sudoku and Just Jumble.

A proud Pa. Always happy to hear of the boys latest exploits, school, sport or just what they were up to on the farm.

Forever the perfectionist: Never accepting second best; “Good better best, never let it rest, ‘til your good is better and your better best”. “If a job’s worth doing, it’s worth doing well.” “Don’t set your standards by other people’s”.
I’m not sure I’ll ever reach those standards, but I’ll keep striving.
Forever your little girl. Forever my Hero. Love you Dad. ❤️💔

    Gina July 7, 2022
  26. Pa,
I will always miss you but I will cherish the memories made, the lessons taught and jokes told. You set me the perfect example of how a man should live his life. You were respected, love and adored.
    Love ya Pa, Zac

    Zac Heck July 7, 2022
  27. Pa, there are so many things about you that made you the man we loved, your kind words, patience, encouragement and loving heart. Distance was never a worry when it came to us, 2000kms never felt closer as you were always interested and there to talk about our latest projects, car modifications, how we went in the weekend footy or just about work, Despite the battle you were facing your cheeky sense of humour and quick wit shone through. Whilst on the phone to you just a few days before you said goodbye, I asked if you were behaving yourself to which you replied that you had to cause if you didn’t Nanny would whip out the rolling pin, cracking jokes right until the end.

A memory that will stick with me forever is how much you loved your stories and sharing them with us, from your younger days on the farm to growing up and working, to all your adventures you shared with Nanny tripping around Australia. Although you are no longer with us in person your spirit and stories will always live on, We will make sure of it, goodbye for now Pa, I can’t wait to once again listen to what you have to share, hopefully we’ll have some good stories to share with you too, love you Pa
