37 years my old friend…37 years just wasn’t enough.
You would come over when we were kids, to help me… because i had to mow the lawn, then we could hang out. Ride our bikes and play basketball.
At 13 we started playing music. Your dad would encourage us, he would say “that’s great guys! Now you just have to start and finish at the same time.” 😂 we could only jam on “sunshine of your love”
Slowly developing a love of music, we would catch the early train to school on Fridays so we could play church songs for assembly.
On your 18th birthday we waited outside the club till midnight because the bouncer wouldn’t let us in.

You moved to Caloundra, we would regularly talk about me moving to Qld, so when I did, we caught up, played great music, made a stupid movie to go with it. One of the best nights of my life!

We had struggles we would talk through, so many young stupid mistakes. Drunken moments, good and bad! Random escapes from the world. Road trips, Relationships, children, jobs, houses, addictions, many failures and a few wins!
You saw the best in everyone & always listened. No matter how far the distance or time apart, the conversation would always continue as if you were just… always there. But I wasn’t when you needed it most. I’m sorry 😞

I miss you so much already, I want to pick up the phone and chat with you about how this feels and what you were going through. I just hope that sadness you were carrying has ended.

You were a good mate, growing up there wasnt one sport that we didnt play together. Tennis, basketball, football. Was great to reconnect in our adult years. I was pleased to see you at the supermarket few month’s back and briefly chat. I wish there was more I could of done to help you through your troubles. Will always miss you mate.

It’s been a couple of days since I heard and I’m still in shock

From the moment we met as two country Victorian kids who both moved to Queensland at the same time and the same age, and both with a love of music, we were destined to be mates.

Although life eventually took us in different directions, we still managed to keep in touch, thanks for the memories brother, I’ll never forget them.

Mike, if you’re reading this, just know that I’m here for you of you ever need someone to talk to.
