  4. Dear pop,
As your granddaughter, I write this tribute with sadness, Sadness of the ADVERSITY that you & Nan had to endure in your last years.

Some of my fondest memories with pop was running down the back garden to collect the eggs from the chickens & feeding the goldfish. Having Sunday family roasts with all the veggies picked right from your garden.

You always carried yourself as a true gentleman, your slick back hair, button up shirt & suspenders, Along with your strong Austrian accent.

Although we are heartbroken to say goodbye, I feel grateful for the last moments I got to spend with you & how much you enjoyed that cherry ripe.

“Mögest du in Friedan ruhen “

    Reunited with Nan.

    Erin Anfried.

  12. On behalf of my family, I wish to pass our condolences to Barry, Rita, Rebecca and the rest of the Clan for the passing away of Uncle Gerhard on the 25th September 2025. As a young kid I can recall when we would go to Sea Spray on the 90 mile beach and try our luck fishing with Uncle Gerhard. He was the only one who could cast his line over the surf break and catch the first fish. He knew his stuff when it came to Salt and Freshwater fishing. He was a handy sportsman, who played for Yallourn North Soccer Club back in the 1950s. They were considered a strong provincial club back then. I believe his sporting passion was cycling. I recall reading his name in the Sun Newspaper back then in the Veterans race results. Finally, I heard he wasn’t too bad with the Bowls (Jack High) as he would tell me so. Uncle Gerhard would drive from Moe to visit My Mum & Dads place whether it be Upper Beaconsfield or Narre Warren and finally Packenham he would always bring a fruit cake with him. PS: was he trying to tell us something? Don’t worry folks he had a sense of humour. Uncle Gerhard many thanks for looking after us kids, God Bless you and may you rest in peace. From Gary, Margaret and Albert Brunda.

  15. Rest in peace Gerry. To your family I pass on my condolences.
You were very kind to me as a neighbour and keen young cyclist, taking me to many events, sharing many training rides and giving me advice as I went.
I only know vaguely of some of your achievements in some of the toughest cycling events in the state, but they were substantial, and you were incredibly dedicated to the sport and the local club. Rest in peace

  16. RIP Pop
So many beautiful memories of when I would come stay on school holidays, we would pick veggies from the garden, you would get out all of the stationary supplies so I could make arts and crafts. Eating the fish that you caught and ice cream for dessert from your stash in the freezer.
I hope you are happy on the other side reunited with Nan again.
    Love Tamara

  17. If roses grow in heaven
Lord lease pick a bunch from me
Place them in my fathers arms
arms tell him they are from me
Tell him I love and miss him
and when he turns to smile
place a kiss upon his cheek
and hold him for a while
    Because remembering him is easy
    I do it every day
But there’s an ache within my heart
    that will never go away

    Rest In Peace dad
You only had to wait a few
    Months to be with Mum
My heats broken and I miss you
    What does bring me comfort
Your no longer mourning over mum
    Together once again
    Lots of love Rita xxx

  21. My love and thoughts go to all the family at this time and I know Gerry you are reunited with your beautiful Joan and Lucy. Rita you’ve had a heck of a year please be kind to yourself. I will be thinking of you tomorrow. Gerry, you were always such a busy man, whether working, riding your bike – passing you many times in the carport in my comings and goings. Your house was like my second home. I also remember collecting many eggs and seeing the odd chook running around the back yard. RIP Gerry
