​I see you standing in the garden row,
Where heavy vines and leafy branches bend,
Happy to watch the sweet tomatoes grow,
A gentle gardener to the very end.
​Around the table, all your gifts were shown:
The rich red sauce that simmered through the air,
The cured salami, crafted on your own,
The homemade wine you proudly poured to share.
​Our family story changed as time went on,
Yet my respect for you has never grown cold.
Though years have passed and now you are gone,
I still hold onto memories of old.
​So rest in peace where sunny days remain,
Your work is done, your hands can rest at last.
