My sister and I met Mal on a visit to the farm where
we grew up which later became the blueberry farm belonging to Mal.
Mal was very friendly and kindly gave us a bit of a tour around the farm so we could see the changes and also reminisce about our childhood memories there.
Rest in peace Mal and may your family find comfort, peace and strength in God’s promises.
Prayers and best wishes from Heidi and Anita.A foundation member of Mountain Rivers Landcare Group in 2000 and past President , we have lost a person of vast knowledge and expertise.

A very practical man, always seeking a more sustainable approach to farming, with Moondarra Blueberries being a testament to his lateral thinking, drive and vision.
Mal will be sorely missed but the memories are in abundance.

From Crawford Family.Mall was one of the most genuine people that I have had the pleasure to have known. We lived a long way apart, but shared the enthusiasm of growing our blueberries in a sustainable way. We always got together at various ABGA days and had many very long phone calls over the last 30 years. His contribution to our industry has been massive and appreciated by many. I will miss him along with many others.
June 8, 2026Mal your duty has been done. Lest we forget.
June 8, 2026Mal was a innovator, thinker and doer. We know him through his pioneering work in the blueberry industry in Australia. He was always open for a conversation and sharing of knowledge about blueberries. He mentored many others in the industry and it owes much of its foundational strength to him. I will miss the conversations that we enjoyed especially when collecting plants.
Kate, Joel and families, please accept our condolences. You have lost a marvellous father and no doubt a worthy friend.
