  9. I am devastated at “Big Steve’s” loss, he will leave a hole that can not be filled. He was not only a gentleman but a mentor to me and others. He showed us the way that was of class and integrity and intelligence. Big Steve was always always our rock growing up, the one who taught us how to be good humans how to respect our elders and do a good days work for a good days pay, then save that pay for a rainy day. Of course not all of us listened. Luckily Steve Junior did and he and Sharyn have done an amazing job raising Ash n Jax living an amazing life. I wish I could be there to hug you all! To squeeze Maureen, my Mum’s friend and love of Big Steve. So many memories. To hold Sharyns hand and share a tear with Steve…….. his Dad was always there for us. Steve has always been there for me, and in the later years years Sharyn too. I send my love to you all. The loss of a father, a Pop, a loved one is so hard.

  13. I got to know Steve at the now defunct S.E.C.V where Steve and I were fellow Apprenticeship Officers (Steve – Mechanical, me – Electrical) where we became firm friends. Steve was a man of integrity and I placed a lot of value on the way he approached and handled the various complex issues that frequently arose and I’m sure there are many ex-apprentices out there who have fond memories of Steve. After the S.E.C.V ceased to exists we shifted far away from the Latrobe Valley and unfortunately I lost contact with Steve – but never my respect for this outstanding man. My heartfelt sympathy to all those mourning the passing of Steve, a man who was a friend to all.

  20. My deepest sympathies to all of Stef’s family. We go back a long ways to the mid to late 50’s when he lived the bottom side of of Skin’s. I used to holiday at Ron’s, my cousin, I’ll never forget Xmas of ‘66. We were all at Lake Entrance us for a few days and Stef a bit longer. We’d all spent the arvo at the Kalimna hotel drinking away merrily. About 6 we decided to go back into town. Skin decided we should drag, Stef in his souped up HR and Sin in his Blue AP5 Valaint.
Stef took off leading, half way down the hill Skin decided we’d take him. Through the Esses on the wrong side we went. Got passed just at the bridge in town. Thankfully nothing was coming up.😇😇😇😇 I never prayed so much in my life..
a great time had by all.
Rest in peace old mate. 🍻🍻🍻
