I was sad to hear of his passing.Dear Lauris and Family,
Please accept my heartfelt sympathy on the passing of Ray. It’s difficult to put into words just how much he meant to those of us lucky enough to have known him. Ray was a true gentleman — warm, witty, and always ready with a story or a smile.
Reflecting on the many wonderful memories I shared with Ray, there are far too many to list. But a few stand out as especially dear to me. I’ll always treasure the joy of being present at each of our weddings — milestones that marked the beginning of lifelong journeys, celebrated together with laughter and love.
I fondly remember your annual treks to Queensland to escape the winter chill of Victoria. Those visits gave us the perfect excuse to catch up, share stories, and enjoy each other’s company. They were moments of genuine connection that I will always hold close to my heart.
And of course, who could forget the 1972 AFL Grand Final? We were lucky enough to snag tickets to that unforgettable clash between my beloved Richmond and Ray’s proud Carlton. His team took the win that day, and Ray’s delight was absolutely uncontainable — the gloating was relentless, but all in good fun. It’s a memory that still brings a smile to my face.
Though I won’t be able to attend the service in person, I’ll be watching the livestream and joining you in spirit to honour Ray’s life and legacy. Thank you, Ray, for over 60 years of friendship, laughter, and memories. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
With love and sympathy,
