I made sure to always shake his hand and say hello, to fill him with pride and strength, as I am lucky enough to work in a cultural environment, and privileged to have watched him and the other Boorun Boys dance, many times. In your short-lived 18 summers of life, you have warmed the hearts of an entire community and beyond. It just goes to show the type of person you are. Your energy and kind heart were unmatched. My heart goes out to you beautiful one. So full of life and friendship, respect, proud of your culture, grateful for your family- so much ahead for you. And to be taken like this- how to make sense of this? As one of your TAFE teachers last year, it was such a pleasure to work with you and get to know you. You were a deep thinker and interested in learning and researching what interested you and sharing this. You showed a deep caring for your friends and encouraged them to study at the Koorie Unit and when we walked to the Library together or around the campus you knew so many other young people in all different courses. All happy to meet up with you. We had such good times cooking lunches together, you reading out from the Kooking with a Koori book recipes out loud making us laugh, was really fun. We had great discussions about so many topics. And watching you dance with the Boorun Boys was the best. And when I watched you last yeat at the ABC Take Over Latrobe Valley Awards night with Will and Tyrese in front of hundreds of people talk about culture and dance, I saw 3 young men, emerging leaders. You are an inspiration for us. I feel like a better person for having known you.
