  2. As we are not able to celebrate Barry’s life with you all today, we thought we would put together some of our greatest memories of him, in Tasmania, to share.

We remember each year at our family Boxing Day get togethers, where he always had some strange new concoction, that he had discovered, for us all to try.
The odd Sunday drive where he and June would drop in to see us, or maybe it was the dogs he preferred as he always brought a bag of bones for them … and they knew his car, by the distinct horn that would be blasting as he came up the driveway!! He did bring us a ‘sticky’ Boston bun to share for morning tea though!!

His love of a drive with June (or ‘mother’ as he always called her) traversing the state, it was nothing for you to drive 6hrs return to purchase a pair of rabbits for ‘mother’ to cook in the crockpot!!!
Random locations for cooking savs was often on the agenda for the day… But never one of those savs from bloody Peter Johnson!!!

Chloe and Toby loved that he always had lollies for them when we dropped in … they particularly remember the liquorice container that was regularly refilled.
In the Summer time, if you were lucky enough to time it right, we got a feed of greengages off his tree.

These a just a few of the fondest memories that have been shared over the last week since his passing. Everytime we eat a sticky bun or sample a sav we will always have a smile and think of Barry.

Sending our love to the family ❤️
    Anthony, Libby, Chloe and Toby.

  3. We share the memories Anth, Libby and family have contributed to the celebration of Barry’s life.
We spent a few days with Barry and June in 2000 when they lived in Mandurah. He led a guided tour all around some of his favourite haunts – Dwellingup and several other ‘ups’ in the area.
We also had to go their favourite Chinese restaurant to celebrate Mother’s birthday.
His talk of blue swimmer crabs and his love of Exmouth, Coral Bay etc inspired some more travel destinations for us too.
When they first moved to Tassie, they spent some time next door with Lois until they found their new home in Smithton.
He used to love fishing at the Arthur River and would borrow the boat to catch a feed of salmon.
He and June were always together, always a team and he’ll be sadly missed but always remembered fondly – especially when we see ‘boiling fowls’ advertised or mutton (NOT lamb).
    Love to all the family.

  5. There’ll never be another Pop like mine.

The man who could make you laugh with just a look, usually because his teeth were halfway out of his mouth on purpose. Who always had a secret stash of lollies that weren’t a secret and never missed a beat when it came to who drove past the house and exactly what time they finished work. If you spent a day with Pop, you were guaranteed two things: a laugh and hearing “What’s for dinner Mother?” at least once.

He had the biggest heart, the cheekiest grin, and a sense of humour that kept us smiling. It’s hard to imagine a world without him in it but I know we’ll be telling his stories and laughing together for years to come.

Rest easy, Pop. Thank you for every single laugh. You were one of a kind, and we’ll miss you so much.
